Guest teacher Alicia Anderton will be working with EK Dance Academy over the next four weeks in various classes on various styles of dance.
Alicia has been dancing for over 24 years from the young age of two. Originally from Hobart, Tasmania she attended many different dance schools where she gained a vast range of dance styles such as classical ballet – including pointe, jazz, tap, musical theatre, contemporary, hip hop, lyrical, national, ballroom and burlesque.
Alicia has competed in dance eisteddfods from the age of six where she continuously placed in all her solo items, eventually becoming the champion jazz and classical soloist from 2005 to 2010 when she then moved to Perth, WA. In 2007, at the age of 17, Alicia moved to Sydney, as she was accepted into the full time dance program at Brent Street. Being so young and still attending school, it was decided that she would complete the TDHS program (talent development high school) instead. This consisted of three hours of year 11 schooling then three hours of dance, singing and acting each day.
Alicia has performed in a range of different shows, starting at the age of 15 in the production Rent the musical in Hobart Tasmania, dancing live on the Kerri-Anne show, back up dancing for hair models in Sydney 2007, Hobart Chargers cheerleader in 2008/2009, Perth Glory head cheerleader 2013/2014 and many different shows throughout Perth in the last six years.
Alicia has been teaching dance for over 12 years varying in all styles such as classical ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, heels and lyrical/contemporary. She has also completed her Certificate III in Fitness, allowing her to incorporate fitness into her dance classes.
